Concept of BORROWING a book from the liberry

Today a man came to the desk and asked for a title that wasn't available at our branch. I told him I could order it, and it would arrive in about 3 to 5 days. He said, so it is mine to keep when it arrives?

No sir, you can have it for three weeks, then you'll need to return it.

We get lots of people who think they can buy the book. I gave a book to a guy and he asked if I had a nicer copy, and I thought, "hey, it's a library. what do you expect?" And when he asked where he had to pay to buy the book, I understood that he thought libraries were like book stores, but with really dirty, ugly used books.
