.html stands for
One conspiracy theorist guy wanted to show me that he couldn't get to the state's official site. He showed me his screen, and said something is wrong because it says .hotmail. I told him, no, html stands for hypertextmarkuplanguage. He wouldn't believe me, and he started getting angry telling me to listen. I listened, and thought -- this is something to blog-- and he walked away.

Well, the original version of Hotmail was actually HoTMaiL as it supported .html-based e-mail. So, he's half-right but I'm sure that was purely by accident.
