Construction: Reference Lib. Office --> Study Room

The reference office for the liberrians is being converted into a study room for the customers. Today I got to clean out the file cabinet and throw mostly everything away. I found one file with an inner-office mailing envelope. Inside was a piece of broken glass with a note saying "microfilm machine -- broken glass." I am so glad the previous generation(s) of liberrians saved that for me to discover. I'll probably find more gems when I finish cleaning the office out on Sunday AM. Stay tuned.

dare i ask where you ref liberrians are going?? do you *get* a spot to call your own? or is it a basket somewhere? our whole building is under construction here in the twin cities so i hear you when you talk about what kinds of literal 'gems' you find while purging stuff to move...

The ref liberrians are going to the tech work room. All of the techs and liberrians are sharing desks and pcs. We're all living in eachother's pockets.

It sounds like it might be a bit hard to concentrate with so many people right on top of each other in that room... Where did this idea come from, out of curiosity? I don't remember your library having any shortage of places for people to study.

Good luck!

Hi Anonymous. It is absolutely positively tough to concentrate in the back room. Total craziness, like a Muppet Mayhem show. Email/facebook us.

PS-- Where did the idea come from is a really good question.
