What was she thinking, or was she thinking?

This mother and her 2 year old came to the liberry yesterday.  Somehow the mother thought it would be appropriate to let her daughter play a harmonica.  So loud... Even louder than a yell phone!

One of my colleagues told her that she needs to take the harmonica away from her daughter.  Simultaneously I was helping a woman who commented -- in my day libraries were quiet places.

Egg Cartons

Yesterday this woman about 70 or 75 came into the liberry after the FOL bookstore had closed.  She asked my colleague Jeff if he would please deliver these 2 egg cartons to the bookstore when they open tomorrow.  She said that they are collecting them so that they can fill them with eggs and give them to the poor.

Today Jeff took the cartons into the bookstore.  The Friends knew nothing about the cartons!

Another check

Today as my colleague Sandra was checking in the bookdrop a check slipped out of a book.  It was for $150.00 and the payable to part was left blank.  She called the customer, and the woman said -- wow, I thought I had mailed in that check weeks ago!  Thank you so much!

6 year old boy

A little six year old boy asked me what is happening tomorrow at the library.  I looked at the calendar and told him that there will be 2 story times, one for the toddlers and the other for the preschoolers.  He said, "are there any programs for huge kids like me?"

Hi, what's the number for the nearest 7-11?  I left my toolbox there.  I would go run over there, but I'm in the middle of watching a movie... So can I use your phone?

Woman caller-- Hi, I returned 5 books earlier today, and just realized I left my bookmark in one of the books.  My bookmark was a blank check.

The books had already been checked in, thus they were off her record.  We looked everywhere but were unable to find the blank check.
